The 2015 UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships have finished with the dispute of the most spectacular discipline, the Downhill. The balance of the event, both by the organization and the International Cycling Union has been very positive and, in the words of the UCI representatives have been excellent both for the organizational and the sportive aspects, thanks to the passion of the organization and the commitment shown by marshals and volunteers, and a sensational influx of public that has filled Downhill, Cross-Country and Trials areas”. The organization also wants to highlight the major role of the 400 people who have been part of the staff, and thank marshals and volunteers who have been crucial for the success of all competitions that have been held in Vallnord.
The Andorran authorities, with the Major Consul of La Massana in front, David Baró, have been very satisfied by the atmosphere lived during the World Championships and have far exceeded the expectations of the public that had been set at 50,000 spectators. According to Baró, Vallnord Bike Park La Massana is positioning itself among the best bike parks worldwide, and thanks to the experience gained in the highest international level events organized so far, expects to be permanent headquarters of the World Cup once expire the three years already signed with the UCI.
Sergi Balielles, President of Tourism, Trade and Revitalization of the Comú of La Massana, wanted to stress the great complicity that has existed between the organization, authorities and members of the UCI as well as the conviction that Vallnord Bike Park La Massana can permanently host the Mountain Bike World Cup .
The UCI Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships in Vallnord Bike Park La Massana will be remembered as one of the most tough and spectacular, marked by adverse weather in the Junior and U23 XCO competitions, and by the great results of riders like Nino Schurter and Pauline Ferrand Prevot in XCO, and Loïc Bruni and Rachel Atherton in Downhill. The spectacularitiy of competitions like Trial and XCE have delighted the public and created a fantastic atmosphere.
