France takes the victory in the National Teams Trial competition

Today the first medals and rainbow jerseys have been delivered on a spectacular day at the World Championships. Vallnord has designed a very fast XCE course that was already highlighted as great both for riders and spectators at the last World Cup held in this venue.

In the men category, the favorites in the pools have been passing rounds to reach the finals, although we have lived the elimination of the 2014 World Champion, Fabrice Mels (BEL), in the semifinals. The finals were led from start to finish by Daniel Federspiel (AUT), in a perfect race in which he has had to cope with the push of the New Zealand rider of just 19 years Samuel Gaze, who has passed the bronze medallist Simon Gegenheimer (GER) in the last 200 meters. Out of the medals but demonstrating a high level in this final round was the French Kevin Miquel.

In the women category, 3 Swiss riders (Kathrin Stirnemann, Linda Indergand and Ramona Forchini) have reached the finals, accompanied by the Norwegian Ingrid Boe Jacobsen. Indergand has taken the lead right from the race start and has managed to open a gap of about 15 meters that allowed her to reach the finish line with some room to celebrate the victory. Behind her, Boe Jacobsen has performed an impressive final rush that was worthy a silver medal, taking away the chance for Switzerland to make it three on the podium. Stirnemann was third and could not defend the title achieved in 2014.

FRANCE, GOLD MEDAL IN TRIALS NATIONAL TEAMS COMPETITION

France has been the best nation in the first of the trials competitions and has won the gold medal in the World Championships; but this has not been an easy victory. Switzerland and Germany have been at a similar level and the leadership of the race has been shared by these three teams during the competition. Finally, France with 680 points, has overcome these two other main contenders, who have scored 670 points both of them. Spain, 4th in the end has also had options to get a medal, so that the victory had no owner until the closing stages of the race.
